Sildenafil Citrate tablet (Intagra®)

Indications for use

SILDENAFIL CITRATE is used to treat erection dysfunction in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Contraindications

Before choosing this drug inform your health care provider if you have any of these conditions:

  • vision or eye problems, including a rare inherited eye disease pigmented retinitis;
  • heart disease, a history of heart attack or other heart problems;
  • angina;
  • high (hypertension) or low (hypotension) blood pressure;
  • kidney disease;
  • liver disease;
  • stroke;
  • an unusual or allergic reaction to sildenafil, other medical drugs, food, dyes, or preservatives;
  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
  • lactation (breast-feeding).

Dosage and administration

Sildenafil citrate should be taken by mouth with a glass of water. The dose is usually taken 1 hour before sexual intercourse.

Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Do not take the dose more than once per day.

In case of overdosage contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

Do not share this medicine with others.

Drug interactions

Be careful not take Sildenafil citrate with any of the following:

  • cisapride;
  • nitrates like nitroglycerin, meth scopolamine nitrate, amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate;
  • nitroprusside;
  • other sildenafil products (Kamagra, Suhagra, Silagra, etc.)

This medicine may also interact with:

  • certain drugs for high blood pressure;
  • certain drugs for the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS;
  • certain drugs used for fungal or yeast infections, like itraconazole, fluconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole;
  • erythromycin;
  • cimetidine;
  • rifampin.

Not all the possible interactions are described in this list.

Make sure you've given your health care provider information about all the medical drugs, herbs and dietary supplements you take, as well as about smoking, drinking alcohol, the use of illegal or non-prescription drugs. Some of these items may interact with Sildenafil citrate.

Using this medicine does not protect you or your partner against HIV infection or other sexually transmitted diseases.

Side effects

After taking Sildenafil citrate call your doctor or health care provider right away

  • if you notice any changes in your vision like blurred vision, trouble in appreciating colors;
  • if you have an allergic reaction in the form of skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
  • if you notice changes in hearing;
  • if you have breathing problems;
  • if you have fast and\or irregular heartbeat;
  • if the erection lasts longer than 4 hours or if it becomes painful;
  • if you experience nausea, dizziness, chest pain or arm pain on initiating sexual activity.

These symptoms may be a sign of a serious problem and must be treated immediately to prevent irreversible damage. You should refrain from further activity and call your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible. There sometimes occur side effects that usually do not require medical attention like:

  • diarrhea;
  • headache;
  • flushing;
  • indigestion;
  • stuffy or runny nose.

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they continue or are bothersome.

Recommendations on storage

Store Sildenafil citrate at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F).

Don't store or use the medicine after the expiration date.
